Saima’s hand embroideries are inspired by the textile traditions of Punjab, India. Rich in colour and steeped in stories, her artworks are playful dreamscapes. She creates original hand embroideries and prints for interiors and has worked in collaboration with independent businesses and designers.

Her career as an artist began in 2018 when she stitched the experience of being the parent/carer of her non verbal, autistic daughter. This exploration took the form of a 2019 exhibition ‘Autism: This is Me’ at Kala Sangam, Bradford.

Saima has a BA Hons. in Contemporary Arts from Nottingham Trent University and a Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester.

Before becoming an artist and educator, she worked in the community outreach sector of Arts and Museums.
